Cash book, bank book and day book
You never type the cash book: it is made from your cash sales, money received and paid, purchases and expenses. This screen shows it with a running balance, and records money moved between cash and bank.
Step by step
- Open Cash and bank books. From the menu.
- Choose the book. Cash book, Bank book or Day book (every entry of the day, cash and bank).
- Choose dates. From and To.
- Record a transfer. Press Cash and bank transfer, choose Cash deposited in bank or Cash withdrawn from bank, the amount and reference. It is neither income nor expense.
- Print, Share PDF or Download CSV (Excel).
Worked example
Cash book, 1 April to 6 November: opening cash ₹15,000 (18 Aug), receipt from Verma Paints +₹3,000, rent −₹8,000, cash memo +₹283, closing ₹10,283. On 7 November you deposit ₹8,000 in the bank: Cash and bank transfer › Cash deposited in bank, ₹8,000. Cash becomes ₹2,283 and the bank goes up by ₹8,000.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Cash goes below zero. An opening cash balance or a cash receipt is missing. The App warns when a book is below zero on any day.
- A deposit entered as money received. Use Cash and bank transfer, otherwise the money is counted twice.
