Getting started with the Nivesh Sahayak App
The App is the full software behind every Nivesh Sahayak tool: bills, money received and paid, dues, purchases, stock and accounts in one place. It runs in your browser with no login, and you can also install it like a normal program. This article takes you from the first visit to your first bill.
Step by step
- Open app.niveshsahayak.in. Use Chrome or Edge on a computer, or Chrome on an Android phone. There is no sign-up: the App opens straight away.
- Look around with sample data (optional). On an empty App the dashboard shows Add your business first and a card Try it with sample data. The sample is a made-up hardware shop with bills, payments, dues, a quotation, a purchase bill and expenses. A yellow bar on every screen says you are looking at sample data; press Remove sample data when you are done. Anything you typed yourself stays.
- Add your own business. Press Add my business. It opens Settings and saved data (My data) inside the App. Type the business name, address, state and GSTIN once. Every document and report uses these details.
- Learn the menu. On a computer the menu is on the left: Dashboard, Sales, Money in and out, Dues, Purchases and expenses, Parties and more. On a phone, tap the menu button (three lines) at the top or use the tab bar at the bottom.
- Make your first bill. Choose + New document › Invoice, or press New invoice under Quick add on the dashboard. The invoice maker opens inside the App. Save it and it appears in Sales and on the dashboard at once.
- Install it (recommended). Press Install app at the top (or the browser's own install icon in the address bar). The App then opens in its own window, and a short first-run setup switches on the screens your kind of business needs.
- Save a backup. Your data stays in this browser on this device. Open My data (top right) and press Save a backup file now and then, or switch on auto save on a computer.
Worked example
Ramesh runs a hardware shop in Ludhiana. On day one he opens the App, adds "Sharma Hardware" with GSTIN 03ABCPS1234K1ZW, then adds his opening figures with Quick add › Opening balance: cash in hand ₹15,000 and bank balance ₹50,000 as on 1 April. He makes his first invoice of ₹3,068 to Gill Builders. The dashboard now shows Sales today ₹3,068 and To receive ₹3,068. When Gill Builders pays by UPI, he records it with Money received and the amount moves to Bank and UPI.
Browser or installed: what is the difference?
| In a browser tab | Installed App | |
|---|---|---|
| Data | The same data home in both: what you save in one shows in the other on the same device and browser. | |
| Window | A normal tab | Its own window and icon, opens from the desktop, Start menu or home screen |
| First-run setup | No: every screen is shown | Yes: the App asks your type of business and shows only what you need |
| Additional features switches | Not shown | Settings › Additional features |
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Data seems to be gone on another computer. Data is kept on the device and browser where you typed it. Move it with a backup file: see moving to a new computer or phone.
- Using a private (incognito) window. A private window forgets everything when it closes. Always use a normal window.
- Typing real bills into the sample business. The sample business is removed with one tap, together with its documents. Add your own business first, then make real bills.
Questions
Is the App really free?
Yes. Every Nivesh Sahayak tool is free to use, with no login and no paid version.
Do I need internet?
Only to open it the first time. After that the App and the document makers keep working offline; the data is on your device.
