How stock works in the App

Stock is worked out from your documents: purchase bills and opening stock bring goods in, invoices and cash memos take them out. There is no separate stock entry to keep in step.

Step by step

  1. Add items with units. In My data › Items and services: name, unit, HSN, rates and how to track it (quantity only, batch and expiry, or serial/IMEI).
  2. Bring stock in. Type the opening stock once on stock.niveshsahayak.in (Opening stock and adjustments), then enter purchase bills in the App. Production entries also add stock.
  3. Sell. Invoices, cash memos and POS bills take stock out. Billing warns "Only N in stock" but never blocks.
  4. Use godowns if you have them. Open Godowns and transfer. Add Godown names; choose the godown on bills under More details; move goods with Stock transfer.
  5. Check expiry and serials. The same screen lists Batches expiring in 60 days or expired and has Find a serial or IMEI number.
  6. See full stock reports. Stock summary, stock ledger and fast/slow items are on stock.niveshsahayak.in, reading the same data.

Worked example

You buy 500 door hinges (purchase bill) and sell 100 on invoices: Main godown shows 400 Nos worth ₹12,000 at average cost ₹30. You move 150 to the "Shop" godown with Stock transfer: Main 250, Shop 150, total still 400.
