Record money paid to suppliers
Money paid works like money received, the other way round: it settles your purchase bills, and the App keeps track of what you still owe each supplier.
Step by step
- Open the form. Dashboard › Quick add › Money paid, Money in and out › Money paid, or press P. From a due purchase bill press Record payment.
- Fill in Date, Supplier and Amount (₹). Amount is what actually leaves your cash or bank.
- Choose Paid by and type the reference. Cash, UPI, Cheque, Bank transfer, Card, Demand draft or Other; the UTR or cheque number in Cheque / UTR / reference no.
- TDS, if you deduct it. TDS you cut (%) or TDS amount (₹). Ask your accountant which section applies.
- Tick the bills. Under Against which bills? tick what this pays. Left-over money is an advance to the supplier.
- Save. A payment voucher (PV/…) is saved; press Open to print it.
Worked example
Punjab Steel Mart bill PSM/1189 is ₹17,700 (₹15,000 + GST ₹2,700). You paid ₹10,000 by NEFT on 22 October. The bill now shows ₹7,700 due, and the dashboard shows To pay ₹7,700. The bank book shows the ₹10,000 going out with reference NEFT 88231.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Recording a supplier payment as an expense. An expense is a cost with no supplier bill (rent, tea). Payments for purchase bills go in Money paid, otherwise the purchase is counted twice.
- Deducting TDS but paying the full bill amount. Type the TDS: the bill is then settled by money paid + TDS, and the TDS shows as payable to the government.
