Where your data is kept, and how to keep it safe
Nothing you type is sent to us. All Nivesh Sahayak tools and the App keep your data in one place in your own browser, called the data home (my.niveshsahayak.in). That makes it private, but it also means you are the one who keeps a backup.
Step by step
- Know the data home. Every tool (billing, quotation, the App…) reads and writes the same data home, on this device and in this browser. The status bar at the bottom shows where the data is kept and the last backup.
- Save a backup file. My data (top right) › Save a backup file. One file holds every business, party, item, document, money entry, stock and setting.
- On a computer: switch on one auto save. On my.niveshsahayak.in choose a folder once (a OneDrive or Google Drive folder is best). From then on every save, on any Nivesh Sahayak site or in the App, updates one backup file there.
- Restore when needed. My data › Restore from a backup file. Newer records you already have are kept.
Worked example
Ramesh uses the App on his shop computer. He chooses his OneDrive folder for auto save once. Every bill he saves updates nivesh-sahayak-backup.json there, and OneDrive copies it to the cloud. When the computer breaks, he opens the App on a new computer and restores that file: everything is back.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Clearing browser data. Clearing "site data" or "cookies and site data" wipes the data home. Keep a backup first.
- Auto save paused. After a browser restart a bar may say Auto-save is paused. Press Resume auto-save and choose "Allow on every visit".
